IT Risk Management
All of the risks that have always been there that most organizations have not taken seriously because they don't realize, or they have been misled, or they have not personally experienced loss in any IT area, or because no one they know has experienced such loss, or even because they think that software creators 'are going to' save them before it actually happens to them, and so they figure that the chance that loss in the IT area is so remote that they CAN risk it, or simply because the consequences of NOT taking the risk seriously has been no incentive TO DO so,
like the physical security of your IT assets, your back-ups and disaster recovery, your computer and network access control, your user permissions, and your data; your data confidentiality, your data integrity, and your data availability. All of the things that can cause system(s) degradation and loss of use. Changes, change management, neglect thereof, etc., etc.

Business regulations and requirements have created risks for organizations that, at the very least, create higher costs.

Our litigious society's predominate method of communications has EVOLVED from pen and paper to digital, and we will never go back, short of a nuclear holocaust; SO, digital communication has requirements for litigation.
